Authentic Safari Experience in Kumana National Park
Kumana National Park is located in Eastern part of Yala National park holds its own as a bird sanctuary at the same time being home to some of the larger mammals found in Yala west park. After exploring the Kudumbigala monastery you can visit another most venerated religious place in the area”The Okand Murugan Kovil”. This is a relatively small Hindu shrine in the area and has a colorful Gopuram. It is one of major point of Pada Yathraa pilgrimage to Kataragama.If you arrive at Sri Lanka late July and early August you will have the chance of witnessing the “Pada Yahtraa” pilgrimage. The temple is of great spiritual importance as it marks the supposed point at which Murugan (Skanda) and his consort Valli have met.
After the “Okand Murugan Kovil” you can extend the journey of visiting the Crocodile canal.This is a small canal that is filled with huge number of Crocodiles and is a great place to witness their behavior in natural habitat.In the end of the trip you will be served with a picnic lunch that will soothing your taste buds.
