Rekawa Lagoon Canoeing
Tangalle is beach costal line in down south area where you can leave crowded beaches and enjoy wide open stretches costal line. Besides being a fishing port the town is also big on tourism. There’s a lot to do there. There are wide stretches of beaches perfect for your tanning needs, surfing and windsurfing lessons, nature tours, parks, sightseeing, boat tours, and the usual dodgy spas.
But if you are looking for something a little different from the usual coastal activities, you don’t need to go too far. Smack against the ocean, separated by a tiny strip of beach is the Rekawa Lagoon. Rekawa lagoon is a coastal water body located in Hambantota district and its located 200km from Colombo.The lagoon possesses a rich biodiversity with verity of flora and fauna. Rekawa Lagoon is a stretch of inland water surrounded by mangroves and full of plant and animal life. Being so close to the sea lends for an interesting ecosystem and it’s fascinating to immerse yourself in it.
The Lagoon is good for Kayaking and Canoeing and is full of birds and fishes and you could occasionally spot a water monitor. So after you get hand on Canoeing you could be wandering on this shallow waterbody with lots of mangroves and natural sceneries.
