Trek to Horton Plains via Ohiya
This is a very scenic trip starts from Haputale, Sri Lanka. You will be guaranteed to see very picturesque areas which an ordinary tourist would never experience. You will be starting your trip from a protected rainforest with a very scenic mountain cliff where you will be able to see rail tracks below dates back to British colonial era.
Then you will be walking in parallel to railway line amidst misty tea estates with fascinating views of the valley below. You will come across one two railway tunnels and then to a hill country railway station from which point you will be again entering a forest which leads to a scenic cliff where we serve you a picnic meal. After the meal we will again trek and enter to a forest which is very scenic and end of the forest you will come to a remote tea estate and its village which its inhabitants are introduced to Sri Lanka form India by British rulers to work on tea estates. You will be able to interact with villagers and see their way of living.
Again you will be transferred to another tea estate which is remote one and you will stay the night in a home stay and you will be greeted and treated by with their hearts by the caretaker and cook. Be informed that this is a very basic homestay without luxury options but which is very clean. You will have Sri Lankan rice and curry meal there.
The next day wake up early in the morning to enjoy some stunning views and sip a hot cup of tea. After having breakfast we will start trekking Horton Plains through tea estate then come across a forest with some best picturesque views.
When you come to the forest you will be transferred to gates of "Horton Plains National Park" and we will start trekking for around four hours to see to see World’s end point, Baker’s Falls and chimney pools which feeds/starting point of all most all major rivers of Sri Lanka. During this trek you will be served a picnic meal. After a Heart fulfilling trek in" Horton Plains National Park" our beautifull journey will come to an end.
